• You will be co-teaching a virtual webinar. Considering that Michigan has a virtual learning requirement for all secondary students before they graduate and that every state has at least one virtual K-12 school, it is important that you are comfortable with virtual teaching and learning tools.
  • This is an experience for you to understand how to teach virtually, the affordances of virtual teaching and the possible pitfalls. You will be in charge of virtually teaching a 20-minute class session and attending 2 virtual sessions presented by your classmates. We will be using Skype to conduct the virtual teaching webinar.
  • You will be working with a partner. The topic of your virtual session will be to research and review an online Web2.0 educational resource of your choice. Your 20 minute presentation should cover what the tool is and how you could use it in a literacy lesson in your classroom. You and your partner will sign up to present the resource sometime during the 6 weeks of this course. We will utilize Doodle polls (http://www.doodle.com/) to find webinar times that will work for everyone in the class.
  • BEFORE you present, you will be in charge of creating a screencast (you will learn how to do this in class using http://screenr.com or one of the other recommended programs) of “how to use” the Web2.0 tool you have selected. In your 20 minute presentation, you will explain how you would use the resource in your classroom and why it is a valuable resource for the classroom.
  • On our class wiki, you will post your screencast and describe your resource and how it can be used in the classroom (due on the day of your presentation).
